Telangana Plans One-Year Free MMTS Travel in Hyderabad, Seeks Railway Approval

The Telangana government has proposed a one-year free travel scheme on Hyderabad’s Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) trains in a bid to reduce rising traffic congestion and encourage greater use of public transport. According to a report by Deccan Chronicle, the state has prepared a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and sent it to the South Central Railway for approval. The proposal aims to allow passengers to travel free of cost on MMTS services for a limited period, likely beginning from June 2, coinciding with Telangana Formation Day.
