A massive force of 2,500 police personnel has been deployed to ensure foolproof security for the Messi GOAT Tour – Live Event football match scheduled on December 13 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Uppal.
The elaborate security arrangement includes law and order units, traffic police, TSSP/AR platoons, Octopus teams, Mounted Police, and several other specialised wings. Senior officials said the deployment aims to manage unprecedented crowds expected to gather for the Lionel Messi-led event.
To strengthen surveillance, authorities have installed 450 high-definition CCTV cameras across the stadium, entry and exit points, parking areas, and nearby routes. A joint command and control room has been set up to monitor real-time movement and coordinate quick response teams.
In addition, bomb disposal squads and sniffer dog teams are conducting round-the-clock anti-sabotage checks in and around the venue. Special barricading, access control measures, and multi-layered frisking arrangements have also been put in place.
Traffic diversions will be enforced to ensure smooth movement around Uppal, with dedicated parking zones and shuttle services for spectators. Police have appealed to attendees to follow guidelines and cooperate with security staff.
Officials said the extensive arrangements reflect the scale of the event and the high-profile nature of the players, with security being treated as top priority.
