Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and urged the Centre to grant statutory status to Amaravati as the State’s capital by introducing a Bill in Parliament. Stressing that legal recognition is crucial for Andhra Pradesh’s long-term development, stability, and investor confidence, Naidu also sought financial relief ahead of the Union Budget 2026. He raised concerns over the revised 60:40 Centre-State funding ratio under the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (Grameen), stating it would place an added fiscal burden on the State. The Chief Minister requested flexibility and alternative financial support, while acknowledging the Centre’s assistance in helping Andhra Pradesh recover from financial stress. Several state-related issues, development projects, and welfare schemes were also discussed during the meeting.
