Ajinkya Rahane Fined ₹12 Lakh for Slow Over-Rate in IPL 2026 Clash

Chennai: Ajinkya Rahane, captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, has been fined ₹12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate during their IPL 2026 match against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The penalty was imposed under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which deals with minimum over-rate offences. Since this was KKR’s first such offence of the season, Rahane received a fine of ₹12 lakh. Slow over-rate violations are taken seriously in the IPL, with stricter penalties, including higher fines and possible suspensions, applicable for repeated offences. The development adds to KKR’s struggles this season, as the team continues to face challenges both on and off the field.
