Andhra Pradesh: Online Cricket Betting Racket Busted in Nellore, Two Arrested

In a major crackdown, police in Nellore district arrested two men for allegedly running an online cricket betting racket and cheating victims by promising investment profits. The accused were identified as Kushetti Venu Gopal (23) and Bitra Venkata Ramana (31), residents of Buchireddypalem village.

According to district Superintendent of Police Ajitha Vajendla, the accused lured victims with assurances of high returns and diverted the money into online betting platforms through the Radhee Exchange App (R777). Police seized ₹34 lakh in cash and froze nearly ₹1.6 crore in their bank accounts during the operation.

The case came to light after a victim from Nellore city filed a complaint stating he lost about ₹53 lakh in the scheme. Based on the complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), IT Act, Andhra Pradesh Gaming Act, and Arms Act.

A special police team traced the accused through technical surveillance and arrested them in Buchireddypalem. During the raid, officers also seized 13 mobile phones, a laptop, monitor, television, and two knives allegedly used to intimidate gamblers during disputes. Further investigation is underway to identify other members of the betting network.
