As of September 7, 2025, Andhra Pradesh's reservoirs are operating at 85.49% of their total capacity, thanks to substantial rainfall in August. This surge in water levels is particularly notable in the Krishna River basin, which has reached 94.87% capacity, and in the Godavari and Pennar basins, which are at 68.42% and 72.44%, respectively.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for continued heavy rainfall in the coming days. The IMD forecasts thunderstorms and heavy rains in parts of Andhra Pradesh from August 26 to 30, with heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP) and Yanam on August 27, along with thunderstorms accompanied by lightning at isolated places across the state until August 30
