Archer and Jacks Star as England Defeat Sri Lanka by 51 Runs

England cricket team secured a commanding 51-run victory over the Sri Lanka cricket team in a Super Eights clash of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup at Pallekele on Sunday. The win was powered by a brilliant all-round performance from Jofra Archer and Will Jacks, along with a crucial half-century from Phil Salt.

After being put under pressure by Sri Lanka’s disciplined bowling, England managed to post 146/9, thanks largely to Salt’s explosive 62 off 40 balls. Left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage impressed with figures of 3/26 to restrict England.

However, Sri Lanka’s chase collapsed dramatically as Archer and Jacks dismantled the top order during the powerplay, reducing them to 34/5. Jacks finished with 3/22, while Archer picked up 2/20, with strong support from Liam Dawson and Adil Rashid. Sri Lanka were eventually bowled out for just 95 in 16.4 overs.

Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka was the top scorer for his side with 30 runs, but the team failed to recover from the early damage caused by England’s bowlers.

England’s dominant performance strengthens their position in the Super Eights stage of the tournament.
