Haridwar: The sacred city of Haridwar is gearing up for the grand Ardh Kumbh Mela 2027, scheduled to be held between January and April 2027. The mela administration has officially announced that the event will feature 10 major bathing festivals, including three highly significant Amrit Snans (royal baths). According to officials, the four-month-long religious congregation is expected to draw millions of devotees from across India and abroad, who will gather to take a holy dip in the Ganges during auspicious dates. Mela Officer Sonika Singh, while releasing the schedule, confirmed the key bathing dates for the upcoming Ardh Kumbh. The first major स्नान will take place on January 14 on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. This will be followed by the second स्नान on February 6 during Mauni Amavasya, and the third on February 11 marking Basant Panchami. Further, devotees will observe the fourth bathing festival on February 20 during Magh Purnima, and the fifth on March 6 coinciding with Maha Shivaratri. The remaining bathing dates will be announced as part of the complete schedule for the mela. The Ardh Kumbh Mela, held every six years, holds immense religious significance in Hindu tradition. Devotees believe that taking a dip in the sacred river during these auspicious occasions cleanses sins and brings spiritual blessings.
