Telangana Congress leader A. Revanth Reddy Bhatti has accused the BJP of obstructing the implementation of a 42 percent backward class (BC) quota in the state. Bhatti claimed that the delay in approving the increased quota, which aims to provide greater opportunities for BC communities in education and government jobs, is a result of political interference from the central government.
Speaking at a public meeting, Bhatti urged the Telangana government to continue pushing for the quota and highlighted the socio-economic benefits it would bring to the BC population. He criticized the BJP for allegedly politicizing the issue and hampering welfare initiatives designed to promote social equity.
The controversy has sparked debate among political parties and community organizations in Telangana. While supporters of the quota emphasize its importance for empowering marginalized communities, opponents question the process and timing of its implementation, making it a key point of contention in the state’s ongoing political discourse.
