BJP MP R. Krishnaiah led a massive walkathon in Telangana demanding the implementation of 42 percent backward class (BC) reservations in local body elections. The march, which drew thousands of participants, highlighted the community’s demand for increased representation in panchayats and municipal bodies, emphasizing the need for social justice and equitable political participation.
Krishnaiah criticized the state and central governments for delaying the approval of the quota, asserting that the move was essential to empower BC communities and ensure their voices are heard in governance. He called upon authorities to act promptly and implement the reservation policy before the upcoming local body elections.
Participants of the walkathon expressed strong support for the demand, carrying banners and slogans advocating for the rights of backward classes. Political analysts note that the protest reflects growing pressure from community leaders and could influence policymaking in Telangana ahead of the elections.
