CBI to Question TVK Chief Vijay in Karur Stampede Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is preparing to question Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay in connection with the Karur stampede that claimed 41 lives during a campaign event in Tamil Nadu. The incident occurred on September 27 in Karur district, when a sudden surge in the crowd led to the tragedy, leaving over 100 people injured.

Following widespread outrage, the Supreme Court transferred the case to the CBI and appointed a monitoring committee to oversee the probe. Investigators are examining crowd control measures, security arrangements, and compliance with safety norms. After questioning several senior TVK leaders, the focus has now shifted to Vijay, who is likely to be questioned in Chennai due to security considerations.
