Congress Leaders Blame Internal Feuds to Mask Panchayat Poll Failure

Congress MLAs, MPs and Ministers in Telangana have attributed the party’s poor performance in the recent Gram Panchayat elections to internal feuds and alleged sabotage by party insiders. Several leaders claimed covert elements worked against Congress-backed candidates in multiple constituencies.

However, local functionaries and party leaders pointed to nepotism and public dissatisfaction as the main reasons for the setback. They said many candidates were close relatives of MLAs and Ministers, which hurt the party’s prospects at the grassroots level. Senior leaders reportedly flagged this issue during internal meetings.

Local leaders also cited lack of development funds and poor outreach by elected representatives, arguing that growing public discontent, rather than internal sabotage, led to the Congress party’s weak showing in the Panchayat elections.
