Telangana’s Cotton and maize farmers are facing significant losses as procurement centres remain closed, according to Harish Rao, the state’s Finance Minister. Farmers have expressed frustration over the delay in selling their produce at government-supported centres, which has forced many to either store their crops under difficult conditions or sell at lower prices to private buyers, leading to financial strain.
Harish Rao highlighted that the government is aware of the hardships and urged authorities to reopen the procurement centres promptly to ensure fair pricing and prevent further distress among farmers. He also emphasized the need for better planning and coordination to avoid such disruptions in future harvest seasons, ensuring that farmers receive timely support and compensation for their produce.
