Cyberabad logs 829 road crashes in 3 months; bikers and pedestrians most affected

The Cyberabad Police has reported a concerning rise in road accidents across the Cyberabad region, with 829 crashes recorded between January and March 2026. The data highlights a serious road safety challenge, with 122 fatalities and hundreds of injuries reported within just three months. Traffic Zone-II, covering busy areas like Miyapur, Kukatpally, KPHB, Balanagar, Medchal and Jeedimetla, emerged as the most accident-prone zone, accounting for the majority of incidents and deaths. Meanwhile, Traffic Zone-I, which includes IT corridors such as Madhapur, Gachibowli and Raidurgam, also reported a significant number of accidents, reflecting the growing traffic pressure in these areas. Motorcyclists were identified as the most vulnerable group, involved in the highest number of accidents and fatalities. Pedestrians followed closely, highlighting the risks faced by people on foot due to unsafe crossings, speeding vehicles, and lack of adherence to traffic rules. Together, these two groups accounted for nearly two-thirds of all accidents in the region. Officials pointed out that overspeeding, negligence, and failure to follow traffic regulations are the primary causes behind the rising number of crashes. The police have urged citizens to strictly follow safety measures such as wearing helmets, using seat belts, and crossing roads at designated pedestrian points. To tackle the issue, authorities are planning to intensify enforcement by increasing checkpoints, deploying additional traffic personnel, and launching awareness campaigns focused on road safety. The goal is to reduce accidents, prevent fatalities, and ensure safer roads for all commuters in the rapidly growing Cyberabad region.
