DRDO Successfully Tests Fighter Pilot Ejection System Using Rocket-Sled

In a major stride for India’s defence technology, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully carried out a high-speed rocket-sled test of a fighter aircraft escape system at the Rail Track Rocket Sled (RTRS) facility of the Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL) in Chandigarh.

The test, conducted in collaboration with Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), is a significant step towards enhancing aircrew safety and advancing India’s indigenous defence capabilities.

The complex experiment validated critical components of the escape system, including canopy severance, ejection sequencing, and complete aircrew recovery at precisely controlled speeds. According to DRDO, the successful test demonstrates the organisation’s commitment to developing cutting-edge self-reliant defence solutions and boosting the safety of fighter pilots.
