The incident occurred on the night of December 24 when a police picket was set up for routine checking. Police received a call reporting that a white car had crashed into a barricade at the picket point and injured a policeman, with a woman found inside the vehicle in an intoxicated condition.
Upon reaching the spot, police found that the car had struck the barricade. The woman, identified as Arti Jain, a resident of Sector-16, Rohini, was seated in the driver’s seat and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, a senior police officer said.
The injured constable, Rohit of the 1st Battalion, Delhi Armed Police, was immediately shifted to Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini. His condition is reported to be stable.
