Telangana State Planning Board Vice Chairman G. Chinna Reddy has criticised the State government’s decision to implement the Dindi Lift Irrigation Project from the Edula reservoir, stating that it would significantly escalate costs and adversely impact the irrigation interests of the Palamuru region. He argued that the project was originally part of the Palamuru–Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme and could be executed at a much lower cost if sourced from Vattem or Karivena reservoirs. Chinna Reddy also expressed concern over the alleged diversion of Krishna waters by Andhra Pradesh, warning that continued inaction could threaten water availability for key irrigation projects in Telangana. He urged the government to reconsider its approach and protect Palamuru’s long-term irrigation needs.
