Experts Call for Single-Strength Drugs to Prevent Pediatric Overdose

Hyderabad paediatricians have urged the CDSCO to mandate single-strength formulations for common medicines like paracetamol, warning that multiple strengths confuse parents and often lead to accidental overdosing in children.

Experts say low awareness about correct dosing puts toddlers at serious risk, with several cases ending in ICU admissions.

“We need one uniform strength for widely used medicines to prevent avoidable complications,” said public health advocate Dr. Sivaranjani Santosh.
