Former Peru President Martin Vizcarra Sentenced to 14 Years for Bribery

A Peruvian court has sentenced former President Martin Vizcarra to 14 years in prison for accepting nearly $700,000 in bribes during his tenure as Moquegua governor. Vizcarra, who has denied all charges and labelled the verdict as “revenge”, has also been barred from holding public office for nine years.
