BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has lashed out at the Congress government following the High Court's stay on the 42% reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) in local body elections, calling it a political stunt that has now been legally exposed. He accused the Congress of making hollow promises to mislead the BC community without proper legal backing or groundwork. KTR alleged that the announcement of the quota was more of an electoral gimmick rather than a sincere attempt to uplift BCs through genuine representation.
KTR criticized the state government's failure to defend its decision in court and termed the stay as proof of the Congress’s lack of seriousness and planning. He said that the Congress party had played with the sentiments of BCs for political mileage and now stands exposed before the public. Reiterating BRS’s commitment to the welfare of BC communities, KTR demanded that the Congress stop using marginalized groups for vote bank politics and focus instead on delivering legally sound and sustainable policies.
