A shocking incident unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday night in the Prajay Waterfront locality of Medchal (near Hyderabad), where a 56-year-old man, identified as Mohd Nizamuddin—a construction worker from Achhayipalli in Siddipet district—was allegedly murdered by his son during a late-night drunken quarrel. According to police reports, Nizamuddin had been out drinking with his son, Sheikh Sathak, and the latter’s friend Raju near the waterfront when the argument broke out.
The quarrel escalated rapidly. In a fit of rage, Sathak allegedly picked up a large boulder from the vicinity and repeatedly struck his father, causing fatal injuries on the spot. Responding to an emergency call, officers from the Medchal Police Station reached the scene and took Sathak and his friend Raju into custody for questioning. A murder case has been registered as investigators probe the full circumstances of the incident.
At this stage, the motive appears to be linked to alcohol-fuelled anger and possible long-standing tensions between father and son, exacerbated by the drinking session. Police are also examining how the friend was involved and whether any prior provocation played a role. Further forensic work and witness statements are being collected to clarify the sequence of events.
The case underscores persistent concerns around domestic violence, alcohol abuse and the volatility of drunk-driven quarrels in the region. Authorities have reiterated warnings about the dangers of excessive drinking and the imperative of early intervention in familial conflicts to prevent such tragic outcomes.
