Hyderabad Police Issue Alert on Cyber Frauds Misusing RBI’s UDGAM Portal

Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar has warned citizens against a new cyber scam in which fraudsters are misusing the RBI’s UDGAM portal name to cheat people. In an advisory issued on Friday, police said scammers are sending fake messages and emails claiming unclaimed money in old bank accounts and urging recipients to click on links to withdraw it.

Police cautioned that clicking on such links can lead to mobile hacking and rapid draining of bank accounts. Fraudsters are also impersonating RBI or bank officials to obtain OTPs and passwords. The Commissioner clarified that RBI never seeks such details.

Citizens were advised to use only the official UDGAM portal (udgam.rbi.org.in) and report cyber fraud immediately by calling 1930 or visiting cybercrime.gov.in.
