India a ‘stabilising force’ in global economy, says Nirmala Sitharaman

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has emphasized India's role as a stabilizing force in the global economy, highlighting the nation's resilience amid global uncertainties. Speaking at the Kautilya Economic Conclave 2025 in New Delhi, she noted that the world is undergoing a structural transformation, with geopolitical conflicts, sanctions, and tariffs reshaping global supply chains. Despite these challenges, Sitharaman pointed out that India's economic growth is firmly anchored in domestic factors, such as robust consumption and strategic reforms, which minimize the impact of external shocks.

Sitharaman also addressed the evolving global economic landscape, stating that the dominance of a single power is being contested, leading to a more multipolar world. She emphasized the need for inclusive global cooperation and fair trade practices to navigate the complexities of this transformation. The Finance Minister's remarks underscore India's commitment to fostering stability and resilience in the global economy through strategic domestic policies and active international engagement
