India Plans ₹1.2 Lakh Crore Boost with Semiconductor Mission 2.0

India is set to significantly scale up its semiconductor ambitions with the proposed launch of Semiconductor Mission 2.0, an expanded version of the existing India Semiconductor Mission (ISM). According to reports, the government is planning an outlay of up to ₹1.2 lakh crore to strengthen the country’s semiconductor ecosystem and reduce dependence on imports. The new phase of the mission will focus on key areas such as chip design, fabrication (fabs), packaging, and strengthening the overall supply chain. It aims to attract global semiconductor companies while also nurturing domestic players to build a robust and self-reliant industry.
