India’s Viksit Bharat Goal Achievable with AI, But Risks Remain: IMF

Artificial intelligence can significantly boost global economic growth and help India achieve its ambitious Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, according to International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.

Speaking at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, she noted that IMF research suggests AI could increase global growth by around 0.8%. This technological transformation could accelerate productivity, innovation, and economic development, making India’s developed nation goal by 2047 achievable.

However, she also cautioned that AI presents significant risks, particularly to employment, as automation may disrupt job markets. Policymakers must focus on skill development and workforce adaptation to ensure inclusive growth.
