The 10th edition of the Indian Navy Marathon concluded on a grand note in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, attracting over 17,000 runners, including foreign nationals from 17 countries. The event marked a new milestone, reflecting its growing scale and international appeal.
Offering prize money exceeding ₹10 lakh, the marathon saw enthusiastic participation from professional athletes and fitness enthusiasts from across India and abroad. The Eastern Naval Command (ENC) said the overwhelming turnout showcased unparalleled sporting spirit and public engagement.
The 10 km and 5 km runs were flagged off by District Collector M N Harendhira Prasad and Commissioner of Police Shankha Brata Bagchi, along with senior naval officers, civic officials, veterans, and representatives of partner organisations.
According to the ENC, meticulous planning and seamless coordination among the district administration, city police, and volunteers ensured the smooth conduct of the event. This edition also introduced enhanced features such as improved runner deliverables, special discounts, and insurance coverage for all participants.
The participation of foreign athletes further underscored the marathon’s rising international stature, firmly establishing it as one of the leading sporting events in the region.
Vice Admiral Sanjay Bhalla congratulated the winners, participants, and organisers, and thanked the district administration, city police, and volunteer organisations for their support in making the event a grand success.
