KCR mourns demise of legendary sculptor Ram Vanji Sutar
Hyderabad: Former Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president K. Chandrashekhar Rao expressed deep grief over the demise of Padma Bhushan awardee and renowned sculptor Ram Vanji Sutar, who passed away due to age-related ailments.
In a condolence message, KCR hailed Sutar as one of India’s finest monumental sculptors and praised his immense contribution to Indian art. He recalled Sutar’s iconic design of the 125-foot statue of Dr B.R. Ambedkar in Hyderabad, describing it as a world-class landmark constructed during the BRS government.
KCR referred to Sutar as a “Kohinoor diamond” in the field of sculpture, stating that his exceptional talent brought life to statues of great leaders and personalities. He said the Ambedkar statue would remain a lasting symbol of inspiration and pride for Telangana.
Stating that availing Sutar’s services for the prestigious project was a matter of honour for the state, KCR said the legendary sculptor would forever live on in the hearts of Telangana’s people. He termed Sutar’s death an irreparable loss to the art world and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
