Kerala police have registered a case against Congress leader N. Subarahmanian of Karuvattoor for allegedly sharing an AI-generated image linking Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan with Unnikrishnan Potty, an accused in the Sabarimala gold loss case. The fabricated image, shared on social media with a misleading caption, was deemed provocative and intended to cause public unrest.
The FIR, registered by Chevayoor police, cites Section 192 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause a riot, and Section 120(o) of the Kerala Police Act for causing annoyance through communication. Police are also investigating others who shared similar AI-generated images to trace the source.
The CPI(M) clarified that the image circulating online was entirely fabricated using artificial intelligence, emphasizing that it is misleading and false.
