Hyderabad: BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) strongly criticised the Congress government, accusing it of gross inefficiency in protecting Telangana’s check dams and allowing the destruction of vital water conservation structures.
KTR demanded the constitution of a People’s Enquiry Commission, as suggested by renowned water conservationist Rajendra Singh, popularly known as the Water Man of India. He also urged the Revanth Reddy-led government to take strict action against the sand mafia and those responsible for planting explosives at public assets.
According to KTR, Rajendra Singh personally inspected the check dam at Adivi Somanapally, which was allegedly blasted, along with another damaged structure at Tanugula. The water conservation expert reportedly confirmed that the damage was deliberate and not caused by natural factors.
KTR alleged that the destruction of check dams was a criminal act targeting Telangana’s water resources and demanded that all those involved be brought to justice without delay. He warned that the negligence of the government would have serious consequences for groundwater recharge and farmers’ livelihoods.
The BRS leader said his party would continue to fight for the protection of Telangana’s irrigation and water conservation infrastructure, holding the Congress government accountable for any further damage.
