NEW DELHI: India’s premier all-rounder Deepti Sharma created history during the third T20 International against Sri Lanka at Thiruvananthapuram, producing a record-laden performance that cemented her place among the world’s best.
Deepti took 3 wickets for 18 runs, bringing her total to 333 international wickets, surpassing Australian legend Ellyse Perry (331 wickets in 271 matches) to become the third-highest wicket-taker in women’s international cricket. Only England’s Katherine Sciver-Brunt (335 wickets) and Indian great Jhulan Goswami (355 wickets) remain ahead on the all-time list.
In addition, Deepti made history in T20 Internationals, becoming the first Indian cricketer—male or female—to reach 150 wickets in the shortest format.
Her extraordinary performance not only strengthened India’s position in the series but also added another monumental milestone to her illustrious career.
