The Ordnance Factory (OF) Medak successfully conducted its annual flotation trials of BMP-II infantry combat vehicles (ICVs) and variants at Malkapur Lake, validating their amphibious and terrain-handling capabilities.
Supervised by OF Medak CGM SS Prasad, and attended by officers from DGQA and the User Directorate, the trials ensure the vehicles’ reliability in diverse battlefield conditions before induction into the Indian Army.
Established in 1984, OF Medak manufactures a wide range of ICVs, including BMP-II, BMP-IIK, CMT, AERV, AAT, CCPT, NBCRV, and other specialised variants. The factory also supplies CRN-91 naval vehicles, MPVs, MMPVs, and bullet-proof vehicles to paramilitary forces and state police.
The annual testing is a mandatory pre-delivery procedure for all infantry combat vehicles.
