The US Department of Defense’s 2025 report on China, titled “Military and Security Developments Involving the People’s Republic of China”, highlights that China continues to be the world’s fourth-largest arms supplier, with Pakistan emerging as its largest and most significant defense customer.
According to the report, by December 2024, China had sold substantial military equipment globally, with small arms largely supplied to developing countries. Pakistan, in particular, received hardware capable of attacking land, air, and sea targets, underscoring strategic military implications for the region.
The findings raise concerns for India and the United States, given Pakistan’s growing access to advanced Chinese military technology.
