According to officials, the accused, identified as Lakhai Ghosh, appeared for the examination on behalf of the actual aspirant, Abdul Khaleque. The fraud was detected after invigilators noticed a mismatch between the signature on the admit card and that of the person appearing for the test.
Police immediately intervened and detained Ghosh at the examination centre. During preliminary questioning, investigators began probing possible financial arrangements behind the impersonation and are examining whether the incident is linked to a larger proxy recruitment racket operating in Murshidabad and Kolkata.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to identify other individuals involved in the alleged scam. Authorities said strict action would be taken against those found indulging in recruitment-related fraud.
