A woman has been arrested in Rajasthan’s Ajmer for allegedly killing her 3-year-old daughter by putting her to sleep on a public bench and then throwing her into a lake. According to the police, the incident occurred late Tuesday night, after the woman spent several hours with the child near Ajmer's Ana Sagar lake.
The accused, identified as Anjali alias Priya Singh, is originally from Sakulpura in Banaras district, Uttar Pradesh. She was in a live-in relationship with a man named Aklesh Gupta in the Datanagar area of Ajmer. Anjali had separated from her husband, with whom she had a daughter, and reportedly wanted to “get rid” of the child.
