Revanth Reddy Announces Core Urban Act to Replace GHMC Act

The Telangana government has decided to replace the existing GHMC Act with a new Core Urban Act (CURE) to streamline municipal governance in Hyderabad.

The proposed law will be implemented in the three newly formed municipal corporations — Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (restructured), Cyberabad, and Malkajgiri — which were recently carved out for better urban administration.

During a review meeting, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directed officials to prioritise sanitation, road maintenance, food safety surveillance, fire preparedness, and infrastructure development under a unified municipal framework. Development works in municipal areas will be taken up on priority under the proposed 99-day programme of the state government.
