With tighter border security making drug smuggling increasingly difficult, the network linked to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim is allegedly shifting towards large-scale domestic drug production in India. Intelligence inputs indicate that methamphetamine manufacturing units are being set up across parts of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan with the help of local operatives.
Officials say strengthened surveillance along the Punjab border, previously a major route for narcotics smuggling from Pakistan using drones, has disrupted cross-border trafficking. As a result, criminal syndicates are increasingly relying on local production and interstate distribution networks.
Agencies, including the Central Bureau of Narcotics, have seized significant consignments in recent operations, exposing extensive supply chains spanning multiple states. Investigations are ongoing to dismantle the networks and identify those involved.
