Sensex, Nifty Fall After Early Gains on Weak Asian Cues

The Sensex and Nifty opened higher on Thursday but soon gave up early gains to trade lower amid weak trends in Asian markets and continued foreign institutional investor (FII) selling.

The 30-share BSE Sensex opened on a positive note and climbed 149.3 points (0.17%) to 84,540.57, while the 50-share NSE Nifty advanced 45.05 points to 25,803.05. However, both indices reversed direction as global market cues turned weak.

Domestic institutional investors provided some support to equities, while Brent crude prices inched higher and Wall Street remained buoyed by expectations of Federal Reserve rate cuts. Market analysts noted that persistent FII outflows and cautious investor sentiment kept the momentum in check.

Investors are advised to monitor global trends and foreign fund flows closely as they continue to impact the Indian equity markets.
