Sangareddy: The BDL-Bhanur police on Saturday arrested Sigachi Industries Limited Chief Executive Officer Amit Raj Sinha, nearly six months after the devastating factory blast in Telangana’s Bhanur industrial area that claimed around 54 lives and left several others seriously injured. Sinha has been named as Accused No. 2 in the case.
The explosion occurred on June 30 and is considered one of the biggest industrial disasters in Telangana’s history. Following the incident, family members of the victims lodged a complaint, based on which the BDL-Bhanur police registered a case of culpable homicide against the company management.
The arrest came after the Telangana High Court pressed for action against the management while hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by a group of retired scientists. The court reportedly expressed concern over the delay in arrests and emphasized accountability in cases involving large-scale industrial accidents.
Investigations into safety lapses and responsibility for the blast are ongoing, and further legal action is expected as the probe progresses.
