Study Finds Excessive Social Media Use Hampers Children’s Concentration”

A new study warns that excessive social media use can affect children’s concentration. Researchers analyzed the habits of over 8,000 children aged 9 to 14 and found that spending more than 30 minutes daily on social media platforms such as Instagram, Snapchat, or Facebook may gradually impair attention.

Interestingly, the study noted that watching TV or playing video games did not show a similar effect. Children who exceed 30 minutes on social media were more likely to experience a decline in their ability to focus over time.

The research was conducted jointly by Karolinska Institutet in Sweden and Oregon Health & Science University in the US, investigating the potential link between screen habits and symptoms related to Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Experts advise parents to monitor social media usage among children to support healthy cognitive development and prevent attention-related issues.
