Supreme Court Flags ‘Huge Revenue Loss’ as Rats Destroy Seized Cash

In a shocking observation, the Supreme Court of India expressed concern after seized currency notes in a Bihar corruption case were destroyed by rodents. The court termed it a “huge revenue loss” and questioned the poor storage conditions in government facilities. A bench of J. B. Pardiwala and K. V. Viswanathan raised doubts over how such important evidence was not preserved properly. The issue came up while hearing a bail plea, where the accused woman was granted relief and her sentence was suspended. The court indicated it may further examine the matter, highlighting serious lapses in handling seized assets.
