Telangana Class 7 Student Gains Recognition for Innovative Diabetic Footwear in Khammam

Md. Zakiya Sultana, a Class 7 student from Government UPS Pedda Thanda in Khammam, has developed smart footwear designed to prevent diabetic foot ulcers. Her innovative shoes use vibration alerts to stimulate nerves, improve blood circulation, and warn patients who have reduced sensation in their feet. Despite having hearing and speech impairments, Zakiya presented her project, “Sole Care: Smart Footwear for Diabetic Patients,” at a district-level science fair, winning a prize and recognition from officials including District Collector Anudeep Durishetty. The innovation has the potential to significantly aid diabetic patients and has earned Zakiya widespread acclaim.​
