Telangana Erupts in Protest Against BJP MP Tejasvi Surya’s Remarks

Protests erupted across Telangana after BJP MP Tejasvi Surya compared the formation of Telangana to the partition of India and Pakistan, triggering strong backlash from BRS leaders and party workers. Demonstrations were held in multiple districts including Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, and Nalgonda. Protesters burned effigies of the MP and condemned his remarks, calling them an insult to the sacrifices of Telangana martyrs. BRS leaders accused Surya of showing ignorance and disrespect towards the Telangana statehood movement. They stated that such comments hurt the sentiments of the people and undermine the history of the state. Meanwhile, former Minister V. Srinivas Goud filed a complaint at the Parliament Street Police Station in New Delhi, seeking legal action against the BJP MP. He demanded an apology in Parliament, calling the remarks irresponsible and inappropriate. BRS leaders also questioned the silence of Telangana MPs and warned of intensified protests if no action is taken. They asserted that any attempt to undermine Telangana’s identity would not be tolerated.
