Telangana Minister Clarifies: ‘I Was Unaware of Akhanda-2 Ticket Price Hike

Telangana Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy clarified that the government order increasing ‘Akhanda 2’ movie ticket prices was issued without his knowledge, blaming officials for the mistake.

Reddy said he was busy with the Global Summit and local body elections, and the order contradicts an earlier government decision that ticket prices would not be raised as per the Telangana High Court’s ruling. He reiterated that neither ticket hikes nor benefit shows are permitted.

The Minister questioned how ticket prices could be increased when middle-class audiences form the core of moviegoers. He also criticised the practice of paying actors excessively high remuneration, stating that the film industry should not approach the government for price hikes while such payments continue.

The controversy comes even as the High Court recently suspended the State government’s memo approving higher ticket rates for the film.
