In the Telangana municipal election results, the ruling Congress party failed to achieve a clean sweep despite being in power and running an aggressive campaign led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi mounted a strong challenge, preventing a landslide victory and signaling shifting political dynamics in the state.
According to data from the Telangana State Election Commission, out of 2,996 wards, Congress secured 1,526 wards, while BRS won 772 wards. The Bharatiya Janata Party managed 320 wards, with All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen winning 66 wards. Independents captured 180 wards, and other parties secured 73 wards.
Political observers noted that while Congress emerged as the leading party, the strong performance by BRS reflects continued grassroots support for the opposition. The results also indicate that the BJP remained a minor player in these local body polls.
