Tragedy in Canada: Punjab-Origin Men Killed in Edmonton Shooting

Bathinda: Two young men from Punjab, Gurdeep Singh (27) and Ranvir Singh (19), were fatally shot in Edmonton, Canada, shortly after leaving a birthday party, leaving their families devastated. The incident is believed to have occurred due to mistaken identity.

Gurdeep, from Barre village, had been in Canada for over two years awaiting a work permit, while Ranvir, from Uddat Saidewala village, moved there 18 months ago for studies. Both were sitting in a car when the assailants, arriving in another vehicle, opened fire and sped away. Ranvir, seated in the driver’s seat, was struck directly by a bullet, while Gurdeep was hit by shrapnel.

Authorities are investigating the shooting, which has shocked the local Punjabi community in Canada and back home in India.
