US President Donald Trump shared a digitally altered image on social media portraying himself as the “Acting President of Venezuela.” The image appeared to mimic an edited Wikipedia page, listing Trump as the incumbent Venezuelan president as of January 2026, alongside his official roles as the 45th and 47th President of the United States. The post is not linked to any official appointment or constitutional role.
The post comes amid Trump’s recent remarks suggesting improving relations between the United States and Venezuela. He cited cooperation with Venezuelan leadership, oil shipments to the US, and ongoing diplomatic engagement as signs of progress. Trump also indicated possible meetings with Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez and opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, while highlighting interest from oil companies in Venezuela’s energy sector.
Trump further commented on regional diplomacy involving Venezuela and Cuba, asserting that the US military would play a role in enforcing policy decisions. The edited image has drawn attention as discussions continue around US–Venezuela relations, energy trade, and geopolitical developments in the region.
