US Court Accepts Guilty Plea of Nikhil Gupta in Sikh Separatist Murder Plot Case

An Indian national, Nikhil Gupta, pleaded guilty in a federal court in New York City to charges related to a murder-for-hire conspiracy targeting a US-based Sikh separatist leader. The plea was entered before Judge Sarah Netburn in the Southern District of New York.

Gupta admitted guilt on three counts — conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, murder-for-hire, and conspiracy to commit money laundering — marking a significant development in the case that was previously heading toward trial. The matter will now proceed to sentencing.
