US Withdraws From India–France Led International Solar Alliance Under Trump Order

President Donald Trump has ordered the United States to withdraw from the India–France led International Solar Alliance (ISA), citing concerns over national interests. The decision is part of a broader move to exit 66 international organisations, many linked to climate change and renewable energy initiatives. The Gurugram-headquartered ISA, founded in 2015 by India and France, aims to promote solar energy adoption and mobilise $1 trillion in investments by 2030. US officials said the withdrawal reflects opposition to what they termed “climate orthodoxy” that undermines national sovereignty and economic priorities. The move reverses earlier US commitments to global climate cooperation and renewable energy partnerships.
