The Andhra Pradesh government has launched an ambitious plan to achieve full enrolment across more than 42,000 government schools, aiming to completely eliminate “Admissions Closed” boards from public institutions. This initiative focuses on improving accessibility and quality in government education while encouraging more parents to choose public schools for their children.
As part of the strategy, the state is scrapping outdated policies that previously hindered admissions and expanding the “One Class–One Teacher” model to ensure better teacher-student ratios. Additionally, under the “Mana Badi–Mana Bhavishyathu” programme, schools will receive enhanced infrastructure, digital classrooms, and upgraded learning resources. To further support students from remote areas, the government will provide a monthly travel subsidy of ₹600 for those living more than one kilometre away from school — a move aimed at reducing dropout rates and promoting inclusive education.
