More than 3 lakh schools across India have registered for the Viksit Bharat Buildathon, a nationwide initiative aimed at fostering innovation, creativity, and problem-solving skills among students. The program, launched as part of the government’s broader Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, encourages schoolchildren to propose ideas and solutions that can contribute to the country’s development goals. The overwhelming response highlights the growing enthusiasm among students to engage in nation-building through technology, sustainability, and social innovation.
According to officials from the Education Ministry, the Buildathon has attracted participation from both government and private schools across urban and rural regions, showcasing a diverse range of ideas. Students are being guided by teachers and mentors to develop prototypes and digital solutions addressing real-world challenges such as clean energy, waste management, education access, and digital governance.
The initiative is expected to not only nurture a spirit of innovation among young minds but also align educational outcomes with India’s developmental priorities. Experts believe that such large-scale participation reflects the success of integrating experiential learning into the school system and could serve as a model for future student-led innovation programs.
